What is causing my tooth pain?

There are numerous different dental problems that could cause tooth pain. Here is a list of some of the more common possibilities:

How can my tooth pain be treated?

At Eric Heim Dental, we will first run through numerous tests including x-rays, intraoral examination, tapping on the tooth, cold tests, checking the gums, checking the mobility of the tooth, and getting a history of your tooth pain. After all of this information is gathered, Dr. Heim will let you know what is causing the pain and how it can be treated. Treatment options are wide ranging depending on what is causing your pain. The treatment options include:

  • observing the tooth

  • a cleaning

  • antibiotic medication

  • sinus decongestant

  • anti-inflammatory medication

  • filling

  • crown

  • root canal

  • extraction

  • referral to a specialist for further testing
